C2 (Acetylene removal) and C3 (MAPD removal)

CRI offers catalysts for both the removal of acetylene in front end (FE) and tail end (TE) operations. In FE applications, CRI catalysts exhibit exceptional performance in a wide variety of process configurations, including C2 minus, C3 minus, and Raw Gas, in adiabatic or isothermal systems. The catalysts are characterized by proven stability in both selectivity and activity. Regardless of your FE design, CRI’s catalyst will continue to operate effectively throughout cracker maintenance cycles. In TE applications, CRI’s catalyst exhibits proven stability under the extremely high conversion demands required to meet stringent outlet acetylene targets.

CRI offers catalysts for the removal of methyl acetylene/propadiene (MAPD) in both gas and liquid phase applications. For gas-phase applications, CRI’s catalyst performs well in adiabatic or isothermal operation, and is extremely effective for producers requiring stringent conversion targets. The catalyst proves itself resilient under non-optimum conditions by meeting high selectivity and activity demands throughout the catalyst cycle. For liquid-phase applications, CRI offers high selectivity catalysts, while minimizing green-oil formation.

C4 (full saturation, selective trace butadiene removal)

CRI offers catalysts for the complete saturation of C4/C5 cuts for recycle cracker streams or for the selective hydrogenation of trace diolefins in alkylation pre-treaters.

For C4/C5 complete saturation, CRI offers catalysts with optimized palladium dispersion, to minimize overall precious metal content while realizing the customer’s high activity requirements. As an affiliate within the Shell Group of companies, CRI is able to leverage its close relationship with Shell manufacturing sites, to obtain catalyst performance and operations feedback to optimize catalysts and suggest solutions related to improvement of overall ethylene cracker yields.

When hydrogenating C4 diolefin in an alkylation stream, catalyst performance plays a critical role in reducing acid consumption and boosting octane through the isomerization of 1-butene to 2-butene for HF alkylation. CRI has operational experience with both palladium and nickel catalysts in various reaction system designs, including upflow, downflow, liquid phase, and gas phase. In consideration of the reactor design or process requirements, CRI can provide a catalyst to achieve your performance goals.

C5 (full saturation)

CRI offers catalysts for the complete saturation of C4/C5 cuts for recycle cracker streams.

CRI offers a wide variety of catalysts for the hydrotreatment of pyrolysis gasoline (pygas) for both the 1st and 2nd stage process steps. In addition to catalysts, CRI/Shell has pooled its internal operating experience (from Shell’s in-house pygas units), design experience (from Shell’s hydrotreating licensing), and world-class modeling abilities to become the leader in providing proven pygas processing solutions. These solutions address common issues experienced when operating pygas treatment systems, such as pressure drop mitigation, activity optimization, and aromatic saturation minimization. These high performance catalysts have proven extremely effective in Coke Oven Light Oil (COLO) hydrotreating service.
